Swansea Connect

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 4 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Swansea Connect (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you visit swanseaconnect.com (the “Site”), including when you browse listings, submit a form, or contact us.

We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

1. Who we are

Swansea Connect is a community and directory platform based in the UK.

Data controller: Swansea Connect Contact email: connect@swanseaconnect.com

If you have any questions about this policy or how your data is handled, please contact us using the details above.

2. What information we collect

We collect the following types of information:

Information you provide directly

  • Contact details submitted through our contact forms (e.g. name, email address, phone number, message content)
  • Information submitted when adding, claiming, or updating a directory listing (e.g. business name, address, description, category, contact details, images)
  • Any other information you choose to include when communicating with us

Information collected automatically

  • Analytics data about how you use the Site, such as pages visited, time spent on the Site, referring pages, device type, browser type, and approximate location (derived from IP address)
  • This is collected via cookies and similar tracking technologies — see Section 6 for details

We do not knowingly collect payment card details, and we do not currently offer paid transactions through the Site.

3. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Publish and manage directory listings on the Site
  • Respond to enquiries submitted through our contact forms
  • Maintain and improve the Site, including understanding how visitors use it
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues, spam, or misuse
  • Comply with legal obligations

4. Our legal basis for processing

Under UK GDPR, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Consent — for non-essential analytics cookies, and where you have voluntarily submitted information via a form
  • Legitimate interests — to operate and improve the Site, maintain the directory, and respond to enquiries, where this does not override your rights and interests
  • Legal obligation — where we are required to process data to comply with the law

You may withdraw consent at any time (see Section 6 and Section 8).

5. Who we share your information with

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:

  • Service providers who help us run the Site, such as our website hosting provider and analytics provider ([e.g. Google Analytics])
  • Publicly, where you submit a directory listing — listing information you submit (such as business name, description, and contact details) is intended to be displayed publicly on the Site
  • Legal or regulatory authorities, where required by law

Where our service providers are based outside the UK, we take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent, particularly where analytics data may be processed in the United States.

6. Cookies and analytics

The Site uses cookies to help it function and to understand how visitors use it.

  • Essential cookies — required for the Site to work correctly (e.g. security, load balancing). These do not require consent.
  • Analytics cookies — used to understand visitor behaviour (e.g. pages viewed, session length) so we can improve the Site. These are only set with your consent.

When you first visit the Site, you will be shown a cookie banner allowing you to accept or decline analytics cookies. You can change your preference at any time through [cookie settings link / browser settings].

You can also control or delete cookies through your browser settings, though this may affect how the Site functions.

7. How long we keep your information

We retain information only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy:

  • Contact form submissions are retained for [e.g. up to 12 months] unless a longer period is needed to resolve an enquiry
  • Directory listing information is retained for as long as the listing remains active, and for a reasonable period afterwards in case of reinstatement or dispute
  • Analytics data is retained according to our analytics provider’s default retention settings (typically [e.g. 14–26 months])

8. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Request deletion of your information, in certain circumstances
  • Object to or restrict certain processing, including analytics
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent
  • Request a copy of your information in a portable format
  • Lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you believe your data has been mishandled

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at connect@swanseaconnect.com.

9. Children’s privacy

The Site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the Site or legal requirements. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
